Psychotherapy & Counselling

I have been working as a psychotherapist and counsellor since 1992.  My initial training was in Humanistic psychotherapy and this is the orientation in which I still practice.  I do also include many other ways of thinking about the work I do with people.  These include Psychodynamic, Jungian, Process Oriented Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Object Relations and Trauma work.  I tailor how I work with each person I see to be what will work best for them.  I do not try to make my clients fit a model.  This is what being an Integrative psychotherapist means.

I create a safe and nurturing space in which any of the issues that may be troubling you can be held and transformed.  I can also give just enough challenge so that where you may feel stuck can be freed up.

I really like to work with relationship issues - including where relationships are hard to form.  So it may be that you are not in a relationship but would like to be - we can really look at what is stopping that happening and once that is understood it often can change.

I have run courses on the meaning of Exile which has given me a deep sense of what it means to not feel at home even when you are in your home.  The feeling of not being where or who or what you want to be is so painful but it can be possible to find some meaning in this feeling.  It can lead to great creativity and meaningfulness in life.

I have lived in East Oxford for over 30 years and feel very at home here.  I also enjoy being a creative person and do much work with textiles in my free time.
